Zeta Beta Tau was founded at the City College of New York in 1898 and for over a century has taught and furthered the ideas of intellectual awareness, social responsibility, integrity and brotherly love. With over 130,000 members initiated, ZBT boasts an expansive national network that includes such brothers as screen-writer and actor Harold Ramis, Baskin-Robbins founder Burton Baskins, Macy’s founder George Macy, FOX chairman of the board Samuel Rosen and Warner Brother’s president Jack Warner. Mu Colony here at UGA is the newest member of the IFC, although this is not the first time ZBT has been on campus.
For all members, ZBT emphasizes a “brotherhood circle” that places equal importance on each of the following six ideals: Service, Bonding, Education, Social, Alumni and Athletics. The brothers of Mu Colony have a cumulative 3.69 GPA with multiple members in the Honors Program. Other campus activities that have brothers involved are the Residence Hall Association, the Redcoat Band, UGA Heroes, Hillel at UGA and Relay for Life to name just a few. We also plan on participating in many intramural sports and activities in the upcoming and future semesters. ZBT is also very service-oriented organization, with our national philanthropy being the Children’s Miracle Network, as well as participating in projects in and around the Athens community.
One of the most important things that we feel we offer everybody interested in joining Zeta Beta Tau is leadership opportunities on many different levels. Being a new fraternity, we make it possible for every brother to come in and shape his Greek experience in a way that he wants, as well as building bonds and friendships that will last him throughout and beyond his college career.
